THE UST Junior Tiger Tracksters tallied six medals on the second day of the UAAP Season 86 juniors athletics tournament at the PhilSports Track Oval in Pasig on Thursday, Nov. 23.

Junior Male Trackster Mejen Sumbongan amassed 4781 points to finish with silver in the boys’ decathlon. In one of the events in decathlon, he broke the boys’ pole vault record, previously held by former UST trackster Johnrey Magallanes (3.89 meters), after clearing the 3.90-meter bar. 

Lea Ordinario spearheaded another podium sweep by UST after registering 25.67 seconds to grab the gold medal in the girls’ 200-meter dash event.

Jamaica Saligan and Ashley Tabad rounded out the podium after posting 26.11 and 26.15 seconds, respectively, to claim silver and bronze.

UST’s Lyka Raterta notched the silver medal in the 3000-meter run event after clocking 11:36.66.

In the mixed 4×400-meter dash event, Saligan banded with her fellow Junior Female Trackster Lyka Miravelles and Junior Male Tracksters Jhon Quitoyand Almie Aiso and registered 4:00.09 for the silver-medal finish. 

UST improved to 2-1-1 and 3-4-3 gold-silver-bronze medal tallies in the boys’ and girls’ divisions. 

The Junior Tiger Tracksters will be back in action for Day 3 at the same venue today, Nov. 24, at 1 p.m.
