UST Female Tracksters Jeanne Arnibal and Jamela de Asis copped two gold medals on the penultimate day of the UAAP Season 86 women’s athletics tournament at the PhilSports Track Oval in Pasig on Saturday, Nov 25.

Season 85 girls’ athletics MVP Jeanne Arnibal, who is now part of the seniors’ team, topped the women’s heptathlon event, tallying 4,195 points.

Arnibal was off to a strong start after finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles (822 points) and high jump (678 points) events.

However, she faltered in the shot put (427 points) and 200-meter dash (619 points) events, placing fourth and ninth, respectively.

The rookie retaliated and finished second in the remaining three events, garnering enough points in the long jump (680 points), javelin throw (437 points) and 800-meter dash (532 points) to rule the heptathlon event.

De Asis improved her UAAP record in the women’s shot put event after she threw for 12.94 meters for the gold-medal finish.

Meanwhile, the UST Male Tracksters failed to secure podium spots across five events on the fourth day of the tournament.

The Female Tracksters improved to a 6-3-3 gold-silver-bronze medal haul, while the Male Tracksters remained with two gold and one bronze.

UST will cap off its UAAP Season 86 athletics campaign at the same venue today, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. Brenn Allen L. Flores
