GROWLING Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo has recruited Deo Cuajao, the finals MVP in the National Basketball Training Center in Davao.

Ayo said the 6’1” guard’s “scrappy defense” would make him a good addition in the team.

“Wing version ‘yan ni Mark Nonoy kasi larong probinsya rin and skilled. He’s a scorer at magaling sa depensa, whole package,” Ayo told the Varsitarian.

Cuajao erupted with 41 points for the Holy Child College of Davao Red Eagles in the finals of the 2019 NBTC Davao City qualifying championships against Ateneo de Davao University.

Cuajao received offers from Mapua University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Adamson University and San Beda University, but chose UST because of his familiarity with the players and coaching staff.

“Nang nakita niya na marami ring probinsyano sa team, lalo na mga taga-south, mas ginusto na talaga niya sa UST. Alam niya rin na fit siya sa team and may spot siya,” Ayo said.

Cuajao will bolster the Tigers’ roster that already has UST high school standout Mark Nonoy, alongside CJ Cansino, who is recovering from his left anterior cruciate ligament injury.
