UST has won the Jordi Gomez de Liaño sweepstakes—the six-foot-five forward is set to leave the University of the Philippines (UP) to join the Growling Tigers.

The Varsitarian learned of de Liaño’s commitment from a source within the de Liaño family.

Jordi is the youngest and tallest of the Gomez de Liaño brothers of UP.

Aside from UST, he had drawn interest from UP and De La Salle University.

He averaged 13 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for the UP Integrated School that finished with a 1-13 win-loss record in UAAP Season 82.

Gomez de Liaño was part of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth pool for the canceled 2019 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship.

He joins a heavily depleted UST squad, which saw CJ Cansino and Bismarck Lina leave for UP, Mark Nonoy and Deo Cuajao move to De La Salle University, and Brent Paraiso and Rhenz Abando become Letran Knights.

The UAAP juniors standout will be eligible to play for UST for five years starting Season 84. Rommel Bong R. Fuertes Jr. with reports from John Ezekiel J. Hirro
