THE UST Tiger Cubs crushed the Adamson Baby Falcons, 108-67, for their first win in the UAAP Season 86 junior high school (JHS) basketball tournament at the Adamson University Gym on Saturday, March 16.

Andwele Cabañero, younger brother of Growling Tigers co-captain Nic, led UST with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, to go with three rebounds, four assists, and six steals. 

Baby Falcon Andrei Cruz paced Adamson with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. 

UST dominated Adamson in the first quarter, mounting a 20-point lead after a 32-12 start. 

The Tiger Cubs extended their lead to 26 after a 21-15 second quarter, 53-27.

In the remainder of the match, UST continued to display its dominance after a 55-40 second half. 

The Tiger Cubs took advantage of Adamson’s 46 turnovers, scoring 47 points off the Baby Falcons’ miscues.

UST also dominated Adamson inside with 27 rebounds and 70 points inside the paint.

The UST Tiger Cubs will next face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday, March 24, 1 p.m. at the FEU-Diliman Gym.
