KRIS Roy Guzman knew how it was to fight for the title, but only to fall short each time.
But three years later, the newly crowned UAAP MVP, made sure it would be his this time.
Guzman fired 18 points against Far Eastern University as he and Anthony Arbasto swept the beach volleyball tournament en route to UST’s first title since 2009.
“Tama na, atin naman [ang korona],” Guzman said moments after UST’s 21-16, 21-16 victory over FEU in Game 2 of the finals.
And it could just be the beginning for a string of UAAP titles for Guzman, the reigning Beach Volleyball Republic’s King of the Sands who opted to skip the indoor volleyball tournament to focus on the sands.
