ALUMNA Sisi Rondina and UAAP season 82 champion Jaron Requinton bolstered the Philippine teams’ victories over Singapore in the Southeast Asian Games volleyball tournament in Subic on Friday.

The women’s squad blasted Singapore, 2-0.

The tandem of Rondina and Bernadeth Pons sealed a 21-17, 21-13 victory over Singaporean pair Serene Ng and Ee Shan Lau to secure a game advantage.

In the second game, Dzi Gervacio and Dij Rodriguez delivered the bronze for the Philippines after a 21-18, 21-16 win over Singapore’s Eliza Hui Hui Chong and Gladys Lee.

Thailand and Indonesia hauled gold and silver, respectively.

In men’s play, the national team outlasted Singapore, 2-1.

Requinton and James Buytrago bowed down to Singapore’s Mark Shen and Kingsley Tay, 20-22, 22-20, 15-7, in the first match.

Philippines’ Edmar Bonono and Jude Garcia extended the games after posting a dominant 21-14, 21-14 victory over Singaporean duo Nicholas Kiu and Trevis Tan.

In the decider, Requinton and Garcia pulled off a 21-14, 25-23 win over Singapore’s Tan and Tay to secure a third place finish.

The women’s national beach volleyball team ended Philippines’ SEA Games beach volleyball medal drought after Heidi Ilustre and Diane Pascua finished third in the 23rd edition of the regional event.
