THE UST Tiger Sands overpowered the FEU Tamaraws, 21-19, 21-14, in the UAAP Season 86 men’s beach volleyball tournament at the SM Sands by the Bay on Saturday.

Trailing by four midway through the first frame, 12-16, the Tiger Sands snatched the set with a 9-3 run capped by an Alchie Gupiteo ace.

With UST up by one in the second set, 8-7, the Tiger Sands pulled away with a game-sealing 13-7 blast to notch their third straight win this season.

In women’s play, the Tiger Sands’ tandem of Gen Eslapor and Sofiah Pagara made quick work of DLSU’s pair of Julieanna Levina and Sophia Sindayen, 21-13,  21-9, returning to their winning ways after getting their 38-game winning streak snapped on Friday.

The Tiger Sands will face De La Salle University and Adamson University in the men’s division tomorrow, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, at the same venue. 

In women’s play, the Tiger Sands will go against Adamson University and Ateneo de Manila University at 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
