THE UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe bagged two medals in the Asia Cheerleading Invitational Championship last April 6 to 7 in Singapore.
Salinggawi struck gold after scoring 183 points in the Open Freestyle Pom division, leaving behind Malaysia’s Xavier Elite at second place with 180.5 markers.
UST also settled for silver after tallying 190.5 points in the Team Cheer Open All-Girl Premier category. Indonesia’s SMALE Cheerleaders and Stars Cheerleader registered 199.5 and 183 markers for first and third place, respectively.
“Although we did not win in the co-ed division, (I am still thankful) kasi the feeling of competing against international teams that strong for the very first time was overwhelming and satisfying already,” Salinggawi head coach Mark Chaiwalla told the Varsitarian in an online interview.
