A UST Teletiger finished third in the Tekken Online Challenge 2021: Philippines & East Asia Regional Finals, Saturday.

Michael Angelo “TGR RGN” Balaga absorbed a 3-0 set loss to Omega Esports’ Juliano “Omega Jules” Lozano.

“He was prepared for the matchup and he did very well in punishing and timing his attacks,” Balaga said of his opponent.

Balaga said he did not expect to finish third given the strong players in the Top 8.

TGR RGN advanced in the final stage with a 2-1 win-loss record, placing second behind PlayBook Esports’ Alexandre “PBE AK” Laverez in the group stage.

The Teletiger swept BREN Esports’ Bren “BREN Maru” Sy, 3-0, in the first round of the final stage to secure a podium finish before bowing out of a grand finals spot.

The 18-year-old Tekken player took home a P40,000 cash prize.

Balaga scored 220 points in the Online Masters to qualify for the Regional Finals.

He previously placed 25th in the Tatakai Pilipinas Tekken 7 Online Dojo Tournament.
