THE UST Lady Booters suffered their second straight loss against the defending champions FEU Lady Booters, 1-0, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s football tournament at the UP Diliman Football Pitch on Saturday, March 2.

FEU’s Jamiy Fontanillas assisted Angel Egay for a header in the eighth minute to score the game’s lone goal, 1-0.

UST’s Gly Añonuevo had two chances to equalize in the 13th and 16th minutes, but FEU goalkeeper Yasmin Elauria denied the first attempt while the second went wide left.

Lady Booters goalkeeper Lizlie Garcia, who was rushed to the UST Hospital in their season opener against UP, was injured anew after being kneed in the face by Nikk Duran. Maria Gerona replaced the bloodied Duran and blocked two on-target attempts by FEU’s Lyka Cuenco in the 75th and 83rd minutes, respectively.

“We were unlucky. We had a lot of scoring chances early on in the first half,” UST head coach Aging Rubio told the Varsitarian. “Kailangan lang talaga namin ayusin pa ang finishing.”

UST dropped to a 0-0-2 win-draw-loss record, while FEU, who obtained a bye for being last season’s champions, snagged their first win.

The UST Lady Booters will next face the DLSU Lady Booters at the same venue on March 9, Saturday, at 4 p.m. with reports from Valere Jane R. Carollena
