EIGHT-TIME defending champion Adamson University Lady Falcons pounded the UST Tiger Softbelles in four innings, 14-0, in the UAAP Season 81 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Monday.

Nichole Padasas started the rout for Adamson in the first inning with a center field grounder two run-batted-in (RBI) single that sent Krisha Cantor and Joy Maguad to home plate, 2-0.

“In-expect na namin na tatama talaga sila sa batting kasi sobrang exposed sila samantalang kami kulang pa sa exposure, we just need to learn from this game,” UST team captain Celyn Ojare said.

The Lady Falcons punched in five more runs in the second inning courtesy of Angelu Gabriel, Arianne Vallestero, Pasadas, Cantor and Maguad, 7-0.

Adamson put the finishing touches in the fourth inning with four conversions by Ivy Capistrano, Aliza Pichon, Gabriel and Cantor.

The Lady Falcons’ sluggers registered 14 hits while the Softbelles only had one.

Adamson pitchers Layca Basa and Arlyn Bautista tallied seven strikeouts while UST pitchers Ojare and Henna Santiago only fanned two.

UST will try to bounce back against the University of the East Lady Warriors on Feb. 28, Thursday, 1 p.m., at the same venue.
