THE UST Tiger Softbelles clobbered the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles in four innings, 7-0, in the UAAP Season 81 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Thursday.
Charlotte Sales hit a two-run home run that sent Hannah de la Torre to home plate to seal the deal for UST and activate the mercy rule.
The Softbelles widened the gap in the third inning with a run from de la Torre and a two-run-batted-in from Henna Santiago that sent Sales and Celestine Palma back to home, 5-0.
UST started off strong with home runs from Sales and Lealyn Guevarra in the first and second innings, respectively, for a 2-0 lead.
The Softbelles will next face the National University Lady Bulldogs on March 16, Saturday, 1 p.m., at the same venue.
