THE LA Salle Lady Batters clinched the last twice-to-beat incentive at the expense of the UST Tiger Softbelles, 7-0, in the UAAP Season 81 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Monday.

With the advantage, La Salle can eliminate UST on March 23, Saturday, 11 a.m., at the same venue.

Lady Batter Jamica Arribas uncorked a grounder run-batted-in (RBI) in the sixth inning that sent Nica Velasco to home plate to activate the mercy rule.

Arribas started the onslaught for the Lady Batters in the first inning with a right-field-fly RBI triple that brought Velasco back home, 1-0.

Arribas followed it with a two-run homer to the right field in the third inning to inflate the lead, 3-0.

Consecutive line drives by Arisa Miranda and Velasco in the fourth inning sent Chinny Ejar and Miranda to home base to keep La Salle afloat, 5-0.

The Softbelles had the chance to trim the lead at the top of the sixth inning as two runners were in scoring position with no outs, but La Salle pitcher Kiana Juan took care of the next three UST sluggers to end the side.

Juan only allowed five hits and left six UST runners on base.
