UST Jins shine in Petron

THE UST Taekwondo team carved a modest finish in a tournament dominated by the country’s finest jins.

Registering two golds and seven silvers, the perennial UAAP titlists copped second-place over-all in the seniors division of the 2007 Smart-Petron Carlos Palanca, Jr. Philippine Taekwondo Championships last Feb. 4 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Flanked by the likes of Olympic veterans and former UST stalwarts Tshomlee Go and Donald Geisler, veteran jins Daleen Cordeo and Ernesto Juan Mendoza put UST in the gold-medal column with scintillating performances in the flyweight and welterweight categories.

Cordero, who suited up for the Lady Jins as a guest player, trounced Sugar Catalan of University of the Philippines-Diliman, while Mendoza underscored the Tiger Jins’ gold-medal
