THE FACULTY of Arts and Letters Booters whipped an undermanned combined team of the Graduate School and the Faculty of Civil Law (GS/CL), 5-0, in the Intercollegiate Football games last Jan. 8 at the UST Field.

With only seven minutes gone in the game, striker Christian Zosa set the tone for the lopsided victory with a goal amid a wild scramble at the penalty area.

The two teams exchanged tight defenses in the ensuing plays as the Artlets ended the first half with a 1-0 lead.

Even though only 11 players suited up for the GS/CL team, the team still refused to fold and even threatened to tie the game at the start of the second half with its aggressive running game. But AB goalie Mervin Pablo stood his ground and denied the opponent the game-tying goal.

The entry of Artlets’ reserved Johan Boens in the second half energized the Artlets booters. The fresh legs of Boens exploited the weary defense of the opposition and hit the paydirt in the 59th minute of the game.

The GS/CL booters never recovered as they allowed back-to-back goals from midfielder Rojane Flopre in the next five minutes for a commanding 4-0 lead.

The bald-plated Boens delivered the killer blow in the 71st minute with a stunning right kick from the penalty area.

The decisive win moved the Artlets up in the standings with 2-1-0 win-draw-loss card to close in on the College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD),
