THE BIG boys are here.

Ceiling will no longer be a problem for the hitherto guard-heavy Tigers with the entry of tall and agile players in this year’s lineup.

All but one of the seven newcomers stand over six feet, much to the satisfaction of coach Pido Jarencio.

Kenneth Mamaril
Height: 6’5”
Position: center
Hometown: Antipolo, Rizal

The low-post is this former San Sebastian Staglet’s playground. His huge, athletic built could pose a threat to his defenders in the shaded area. He can aggressively box out opponents and pluck offensive rebounds.

Vince Tinte
Height: 6’6”
Position: center
Hometown: Urdaneta City, Pangasinan

This towering rookie from the Far Eastern University Team-B will now man the paint for UST with his hard drives and low-post finishers. He will also be useful in the defensive end with his long reach and blocking ability.

Paolo Pe
Height: 6’4”
Position: center
Hometown: Quezon City
Former School: Ateneo de Manila University

This former Ateneo Blue Eaglet, who gave the Tiger Cubs a lot of headaches from down low, pledged to help the Tigers in the title bid this year. Expect this big man from the Faculty of Engineering to give UST solid defense.

Kim Lo
Height: 6’1”
Position: small forward
Hometown: Manila

Defense is Lo’s A-game. This rookie from St. Jude College is not afraid to pounce hard against his opponents to deflect their jumpers. He is also known for his hustle and sticky defense.

Eduardo Daquioag Jr.
Height: 6’1”
Position: shooting guard
Hometown: Dingras, Ilocos Norte

Daquioag is a prized catch who can attack the lane without hesitation and slash through the opponents’ defense. This high-flying shooting guard can also finish with fierce dunks.

Fritz Delgado
Height: 6’0’’
Position: shooting guard
Hometown: Quezon City

This daredevil from Quezon City is out to give the Tigers additional fire power with his fearless drives and deadly jumpers.

Edcor Marata
Height: 5’10”
Position: point guard
Hometown: Cebu

This Cebuano hotshot was named as the Most Outstanding Player in Nokia National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) D-league last May. Apart from being one of the top guns of University of Visayas Baby Lancers, Marata was also a part of the Nike Elite Camp last summer. Expect his playmaking and scoring ability to shine this season.
