26 September 2013, 7:18 p.m. – THE UST Tiger Spikers stumbled against National University (NU), 16-21, 17-21 in Game 3 to finish second in the UAAP beach volleyball finals at the University of the East-Caloocan sand court Thursday.

Assistant coach Paul Doloiras voiced out his disappointment for the Tiger Spikers, who placed last in the previous season.

“Nabasa ka na rin lang, maligo ka na. Umabot na kami rito so sana kinuha na nila,” he said.

Head coach Henry Pecaña said “too many unforced errors” cost the game for UST.
“Napunta sa baba ‘yung utak,” he said. “Pero nandun ‘yung puso. Sayang talaga.”

Tiger Spiker Kris Roy Guzman notched the Rookie of the Year award while NU’s Edwin Tolentino took home the Most Valuable Player honors.

“I am thankful, especially to the coaches. They gave me a chance to play for UST. I was surprised with the immense trust they put in me,” Guzman
said.
