19 May 2014, 8:00 p.m. – THE FAR Eastern University (FEU) Baby Tamaraws crushed a listless UST Tiger Cubs, 63-42, in their Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup encounter at The Arena in San Juan Monday.
The Tiger Cubs lost their third straight game and dropped to 1-3 win-loss record, while FEU remained perfect in three outings.
The Baby Tamaraws led by as much as 28, 57-29, with over four minutes remaining in the final period.
The Cubs were limited to six points in the second quarter as the Baby Tamaraws pulled away for a 35-15 advantage.
UST went scoreless in the first five minutes of the second period before Lorenzo Montes finally broke the ice with a pair of free thows at the 4:48 mark, 11-31.
“We had no training for this game because we just came from a break,” head coach Allan Ascue said.
Nicole Luna topscored for the Tiger Cubs with 8 points, while Brandrey Bienes finished with a double-double performance of 18 points and 12 boards for FEU.
UST will wrap up the elimination round against San Sebastican College-Recoletos on May 30, 10:45 p.m. at the same venue. Paul Kennedy A. Lintag
