7 September 2014, 4:50 p.m. – AN ERROR-plagued UST Junior Golden Tigresses fell short in a five-set
thriller against the De La Salle University Junior Lady Spikers, 23-25, 25-21,
26-24, 27-29, 11-15, in the second round of the UAAP season 77 girls’
volleyball tournament at the Adamson Gym, Sunday.
La Salle sealed the game off a service
error of the Tigresses.
After a big win against NU yesterday,
UST absorbed its second loss and stumbled to second place with a 9-2 win-loss
record.
“Lagi tayong nangunguna sa laro
pero sa fifth set nabaliktad. Hindi kami naka-start ng maganda kaya ayun,
nadali,” head coachu Emilio Reyes said. “Kapag hindi kami nag-start
ng maganda, hindi kami natatapos ng maganda.”
With
UST trailing by as much as eight in the third frame, 11-19, Junior Tigress Eya
Laure scored four crucial points from three spikes and a service ace to help
her squad steal the set.
“Ibig
sabihin kapag natatalo pa kami, meron pang butas o kulang,” Reyes said.
“Most likely sila [La Salle] makakaharap namin sa semis. Okay na ‘yung
ngayon matatalo kaysa sa semis.”
The Junior Tigresses will
square off against Adamson University for their final elimination match on
Saturday, Sept. 13, at the same venue.
