March 1, 2015, 12:16 p.m. – THE UST Tiger Softbelles got
back to their winning ways after dominating Ateneo de Manila University, 11-0,
in the second round of the UAAP Season 77 Softball tournament at the Rizal
Memorial Stadium.

A masterful nine-run second inning allowed the Tiger
Softbelles to end the game early via the mercy rule.

With the victory, UST inched closer to a Final Four spot
with a 4-5 record, half a game behind National University at 5-5.

After getting blanked in the opening inning, Mallows Garde
almost hit a home run which sent Tin Palma and Christy Joy Roa for back-to-back
conversions.

UST continued to pile up the points with Garde and Ricky Mae
Latican scoring via a Kristine Lacupa Run Batted In for a 5-0 lead.

Palma and Roa added another pair of runs in the fourth
inning for good measure.

“Basta maganda ang idinepensa ng mga bata tapos
nag-click yung opensa, tuluy-tuloy na yun,” head coach Sandy Barredo said.
“Katulad ngayon, tinapos ng one big inning.”

The Tiger Softbelles will face the University of the
Philippines on March 4, 12 noon, at the same venue. Delfin Ray M. Dioquino
