March 11, 2015, 5:00 p.m. – THE UST Tiger Softbelles
cemented their place in the Final Four after an emphatic 7-0 shutout of the
University of the East to cap the elimination round of the UAAP Season Season
77 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum Wednesday.

UST scored five runs in the third inning to finish off the
Lady Warriors via mercy rule.

Tiger Softbelle Kristine Lacupa got to home plate after a
run batted in (RBI) by Tin Palma to get the offense going for UST in the third
inning.

Sharmaine Oria then connected with a right field hit,
allowing Palma and Mallows Garde to score another pair of runs for the Tiger
Softbelles.

Oria and Hannah dela Torre capped the dominant inning with
consecutive runs for a 7-0 UST lead.

Veteran Cristy Joy Roa had her fourth homerun of the season
to ignite the UST offense in the opening inning.

Pitcher Anne Antolihao played her best game of the year on
the defensive end, allowing only one hit for UE.

The Tiger Softbelles finished the regular season with a 7-5
win-loss record to tie the University of the Philippines for second place, behind the undefeated defending champion Adamson University.

UST and the Lady Maroons will meet on March 14, 11 a.m., at
the same venue. The winner will take the second seed in the Final Four.

“It’s a must-win game talaga kasi kung matalo kami, mas
mahirap ang dadaanang butas,” head coach Sandy Barredo said. “Offense
at pitching pa rin talaga [keys of the game].” Delfin Ray M. Dioquino
