UST tracksters continue impressive showing in PNG

July 6, 2015, 8:55 a.m. – THE UST Tracksters maintained
their skillful campaign in the 5th Philippine National Games (PNG), producing
10 gold, six silver and two bronze medals on the third day at Philsports Arena
in Pasig, Sunday.

Veteran Michelle Loterte snatched three gold medals in the
women’s 200-meter, 400-meter hurdles and triple jump events.

Rizza Sombilla also captured a gold in the women’s javelin
throw, while Gerard Morales and Lambert Padua chipped in silver and bronze
medals in the men’s 400-meter hurdles and men’s 10,000-meter walk,
respectively.

In the junior’s division, Jay Nieles (boys’ 200-meter),
Louielyn Pamatian (girls’ 1,500-meter), Jhanine Mansueto (girls’ 5,000-meter),
Paula Bardaje (girls’ 400-meter hurdles), Karen Janairio (girls’ 200-meter),
and Judy Almasa (girls’ long jump) each gave UST a gold medal.

UST’s Joel Hera (boys’ 400-meter hurdles), Alyssa Andrade
(girls’ long jump), Feiza Lenton (girls’ 1,500-meter), Eloisa Luzon (girls’
200-meter) and Ritchie Dala (girls’ 5,000-meter) delivered five silver medals.

Roque Lesondra added a bronze in the boys’ 400-meter
hurdles.

“Experience is always the best teacher, especially
since they are competing against tough competitors,” head coach Manny
Calipes said.

UST has amassed 42 medals in the PNG and will try to add
more in the fourth and final day of the competition, today, July 6, at the same
