UST Shuttlers advance to PNG finals

July 7, 2015, 11:10 a.m. - A GOLDEN pair from the UST Shuttlers advanced to the finals of the Luzon leg of the Philippine National Games badminton tournament at Rizal Stadium Monday.

Twins Henry and Henrick Peralta cruised to the championship round of the boys' doubles after sweeping De La Salle University's Michael Saragena and Cyril Carbonal, 21-19, 21-13.

The Peraltas pulled away in the second set after capitalizing on La Salle's poor smashing and exhaustion as they ignited a 15-7 run for the win.

UST Tracksters punctuate impressive PNG stint with 7 golds

July 7, 2015, 11:10 a.m. - THE UST Tiger Tracksters completed their stint in the 5th Philippine National Games (PNG) with seven gold, four silver and one bronze medals at the Philsports Arena in Pasig Monday.

In all, Tiger Tracksters went home with an impressive 54-medal haul, including 29 golds.

The boys team of Joel Hera, Dustinne De Vera, Ronjon Redoble, and Jay Nieles and the girls team of Eloiza Luzon, Karen Janairio, Feiza Lenton and Louielyn Pamatian dominated the 4x400-meter relay to bring home two gold medals.

UST fencers can’t strike gold in PNG campaign

July 7, 2015, 11:06 a.m. - GOLD remained elusive for the UST Tiger Fencers as they ended their Philippine National Games (PNG) campaign with another set of heartbreaks at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City Monday.

UST bagged only one silver and two bronze medals on the final day as the fencers wrapped up their PNG stint with a total of 1-4-8 gold-silver-bronze medals.

Marielle Peralta, Maricar Dizon and Ashley Espiritu settled for silver in the women's team epee after a 43-44 defeat at the hands Far Eastern University in the finals.

UST Golden Sox finish 4th in PNG

July 7, 2015, 11:06 a.m. - THE UST Golden Sox suffered a costly 3-13 defeat at the hands of a veteran Itakura Parts Philippines Corporation (IPPC) club and settled for fourth place in the Luzon leg of the Philippine National Games baseball tournament at the Rizal Stadium Monday.

IPPC's sturdy and consistent batting shattered UST's defense throughout the match. 

Golden Sox head coach Jeffrey Santiago decided not to go for the bronze medal with the team’s health already in peril.

"Kaya naman mag-third place kaso tinignan ko yung mga bata, hindi na nila kaya. Yung iba may sakit na at yung iba injured pa," Santiago explained.

UST tracksters continue impressive showing in PNG

July 6, 2015, 8:55 a.m. - THE UST Tracksters maintained their skillful campaign in the 5th Philippine National Games (PNG), producing 10 gold, six silver and two bronze medals on the third day at Philsports Arena in Pasig, Sunday.

Veteran Michelle Loterte snatched three gold medals in the women's 200-meter, 400-meter hurdles and triple jump events.

Rizza Sombilla also captured a gold in the women's javelin throw, while Gerard Morales and Lambert Padua chipped in silver and bronze medals in the men's 400-meter hurdles and men's 10,000-meter walk, respectively.

PNG table tennis: UST falls short in doubles events

July 6, 2015, 8:51 a.m. - THE UST Paddlers took home one silver and one bronze medal in the doubles category of the Philippine National Games (PNG) table tennis tournament at the Harrison Plaza, Manila, Sunday.

After winning a semifinals thriller against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, the UST duo Norielle Pantoja and Alberto Bazar came up short against Adamson University's Vladimir Rarama and Francis Bendebel in the finals, 11-8, 8-11, 7-11, 9-11 and settled for the silver in the men's doubles event.

Gold medals elude UST fencers in Day 3 of PNG

July 6, 2015, 8:40 a.m. - THE UST Tiger Fencers fell short in their gold medal aspirations in a disappointing third day in the Philippine National Games (PNG) Luzon leg at the Philsports Complex, Pasig City, Sunday.

UST settled for two silver medals and a bronze. The UST Fencers now sport a 1-3-6 gold-silver-bronze medal tally.

UST Golden Sox secure semifinal berth in PNG

July 6, 2015, 8:31 a.m. - DESPITE the heavy downpour, the UST Golden Sox capitalized on home field advantage and scored a pair of huge wins in the Luzon qualifying leg of the Philippine National Games (PNG) baseball tournament at the UST Baseball pitch Sunday.

The Golden Sox demolished defending UAAP champions Ateneo De Manila University, 11-1, before outhitting Adamson University, 7-4, for a three-game winning streak and a spot in the semifinals.

UST Tracksters dominate Day 2 of national games

July 5, 2015, 3: 50 p.m. - THE UST Tracksters captured seven gold medals, four silver and a bronze on the second day of the 5th Philippine National Games (PNG) at the Philsports Arena Saturday.

Aldee Denuyo secured the gold after a 12.9 second performance in the women’s 100-meter dash.

Jessah Fernandez and Cristelle Ferrera went home with a gold and a silver, respectively, in the women’s hammer throw event.

UST Golden Sox thrash RTU

July 3, 2015, 9:52 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox annihilated the Rizal Technological University (RTU) Thunder with a 19-1 victory in the Luzon qualifying leg of the Philippine National Games baseball tournament held at the Rizal Stadium Friday.

UST's solid hitting pierced RTU's faulty defense for a nice bounce back from yesterday's loss.

The Golden Sox widened the gap further at the top of the third inning with eight points from runs-batted-in (RBI) courtesy of Kirk Daquis and Kirk Peralta with two apiece.
