January 14, 2016, 10:39p.m. – GOLDEN TIGRESS Ingrid Reyes is eyeing a major comeback in the upcoming UAAP volleyball season.

After taking a two-year hiatus from the volleyball hard court, Reyes is tasked to fill in the shoes left by ace libero Dancel Dusaran.

“When I came back sobrang wala ako sa condition. Pinukpok lang din ako nila coach to work hard,” Reyes told the Varsitarian.

Head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes said he wanted Reyes to lead UST’s defense, an area that needed improvement last year.

“Very consistent siya (Ingrid Reyes) sa receive. Kailangan [lang] niya mag-lose ng weight, ‘yung [maibalik] ‘yung shape at playing weight niya,” the UST tactician said.

“Endurance lang naman ‘yung kailangan i-improve sa kanya. Fit naman siya sa position niya.”

Reyes, a former spiker, welcomed her shift to the libero position.

“I have always loved ‘yung [dumepensa] kaya ‘di naman masama loob ko na ‘di na ako spiker kasi wala na rin ako sa condition, di na rin ako ganoon kataas tumalon like before,” she said.

Reyes will share the libero spot with De La Salle-Zobel standout Mia Dizon. Carlo A. Casingcasing
