THE DE La Salle University Green Archers crushed the UST Growling Tigers, 100-62, in the UAAP Season 79 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Wednesday.

After a 44-35 advantage in the first half, La Salle pulled away for good in the third quarter as it dropped an 18-4 bomb to build a 62-39 cushion.

The Green Archers opened the fourth period with a 15-2 spurt before stretching the gap to as wide as 41 points after Brent Paraiso’s freebies, 97-56.

“We started out flat in the third quarter,” Tigers head coach Boy Sablan said. “Pinatay din kami ng turnovers namin. ‘Yung in-e-execute namin sa practice the past two games hindi namin nagawa.”

UST committed 40 turnovers and allowed La Salle 29 offensive boards as it dropped to a 1-2 record. The Archers remained unscathed at 3-0.

Ben Mbala led the Archers with 18 points and 16 boards while Jeron Teng had 13 markers.
