THE UST Junior Spikers chalked up their third straight win beating of the De La Salle University-Zobel Junior Archers, 23-25, 25-7, 25-19, 25-13, in the UAAP Season 79 boys’ volleyball tournament at the Adamson University gym Saturday.
UST took advantage of Zobel’s 55 unforced errors, 20 from the service area, to stay unbeaten in three games.
Zobel had a one-point advantage, 5-4, before the Junior Spikers uncorked an 18-4 blitz to pull away for good in the fourth set, 22-9.
Jaron Requinton led UST with 13 points while team captain Lorenz Señoron added 12.
“[Maganda ‘yung] recovery and nag-excel sa spiking kasi ‘yung team natin ngayon malakas sa offense,” assistant coach Rommel Abella said.
The Junior Archers committed 18 errors in the second set alone.
UST tied the game at one set apiece after losing the first set.
UST will face the University of the Philippines Junior Maroons on Sept. 24, 4:30 p.m., also at the Adamson gym. Randell Angelo B. Ritumalta
