THE UST Tennisters posted two victories in the UAAP Season 81 lawn tennis tournament at the Colegio San Agustin-Bulacan Sunday.
The Male Tennisters dominated De La Salle, 4-1, while the Female Tennisters toppled the University of the Philippines, 4-1.
Male Tennister Dave Mosqueda secured an easy win over La Salle’s Jona Cano, 6-3, 6-0, before the UST duo of Bernlou Bering and Ken Paradela pummeled Rey Mayo and Gelo Cerezo, 6-1, 6-3.
Christian Lopez surrendered to Green Archer Betto Orendain, 4-6, 5-7, before Male Tennister Francis Lanzado sealed the win for UST with a 7-6, 7-5 victory over Al Andrade.
In women’s play, Erika Manduriao hammered UP’s Nica Alanis, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, before the UST pair of Ingrid Gonzales and Shu Gitalan trounced Lady Maroons Dana Uy and Willow Day, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.
UP fell further after Iana Tan and Francaix Manguiat succumbed to UST’s Ivana Caballero and Me Ann San Jose, 6-7, 7-6, 6-7.
Lady Maroon Khim Iglupas secured UP’s lone win after whipping Immaville Gervacio, 6-1, 6-0.
Mery Rose San Jose wrapped things up for the Female Tennisters with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Dane Carranza.
The Male Tennisters will next face the National University on March 16, Saturday, 8 a.m., while the Female Tennisters will battle NU on March 17, Sunday, 11 a.m., at the same venue.
