The UST Male Golden Shuttlers fell to the defending champion National University Bulldogs, 5-0, on Day 2 of the UAAP Season 85 men’s badminton tournament at the Centro Atletico Badminton Center in Quezon City on Sunday.

UST team captain Lanz Ramirez was unable to win a set against NU’s national team player Lanz Zafra as he lost, 21-13, 21-9.

NU’s duo of Solomon Padiz Jr. and Julius Villabrille made quick work of UST’s Ron Galve and Janzen Panisales, 21-12, 21-14. 

Padiz Jr. also prevailed in the singles category against Kyle Basilio, 21-12, 21-11.

Ramirez and Francis Sarmiento failed to fend off Zafra and Mark Velasco in their doubles match, 15-21, 16-21. 

Velasco also crushed UST’s Lennox Culinao in the singles division, 21-15, 21-10.

The UST Male Golden Shuttlers will next face the De La Salle Green Archers at the same venue on Nov. 5, Saturday, at 8 a.m. Bjorn Del B. Deade
