De La Salle University dethroned the University of the Philippines as the league’s top street dance group as UST’s hosting of this year’s UAAP came to a close Saturday.
The La Salle Dance Company’s classic hip hop routine garnered 89 points, narrowly edging the UP Street Dance Club’s jazz-inspired showcase which finished with 88.75 points.
UST Prime’s Spanish-themed performance finished third with 85.75 points. It was UST’s second podium finish since the event began last 2011.
“Para sa akin mas tight [this year] tapos ‘yung pagbuo ng piece namin ngayon ay mas prepared. Napag-isipan talaga ng mabuti at winork namin ‘yung transition and ‘yung moment na mag-eenjoy ‘yung mga tao talaga,” UST Prime captain Meeko Evangelista said.
The University of the East Armada placed fourth with 83.25 points while the Far Eastern University Dance Company tallied 79.25 markers for fifth place.
The Company of Ateneo Dancers collected 78.5 points for sixth place followed by Adamson CAST which placed last with 75 points. With a report from Philip Martin L. Matel
