THE UST Tigersharks secured two bronze medals in the UAAP Season 80 swimming tournament opener at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Thursday.
Jux Keaton Solita clocked 8:52.99 in the 800-meter freestyle category for bronze behind bets of Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, who clinched gold and silver, respectively.
“We are at fourth place. But we’re still fighting and we will do whatever we can,” UST coach Cyril Alcantara told the Varsitarian.
In women’s play, Anika Relliquete, Dominique Rivera, Mary Margaret Sanchez and Isabelle Gubat also finished third for UST in the 800-meter freestyle relay behind Ateneo and the University of the Philippines.
In the juniors’ division, the boys’ team brought home two silvers and one bronze while their female counterparts secured one gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
UAAP swimming will continue tomorrow, Friday, at the same venue.
