THE UST Junior Tigersharks solidified their quest for a third consecutive golden double, securing 21 medals on Day 3 of the UAAP Season 86 high school swimming tournaments at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming Pool on Saturday.

The Junior Male Tigersharks bagged four gold, four silver and three bronze medals in the boys’ division, while their girls’ counterparts racked up five gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Through three days, their gold-silver-bronze medal tallies improved to 11-8-10 and 10-6-6, respectively. 

UST’s quartet of Ryian Belen, Jabrielle Delizo, Joaquin Mirasol and Emmanuel Austria reset the UAAP record in the 200-meter relay after registering 1:39.09. 

Renz Santos and Marcus de Kam reaped the gold and silver medals in the 200-meter freestyle, while Mirasol settled for bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Santos (gold), Ivan Radovan (silver) and Marcus de Kam (bronze) paced UST’s podium sweep of the 50-meter butterfly event.

UST’s Yohan Cabana and Jullian de Kam bagged the silver and bronze medals in the 100-meter backstroke event, while Aishel Evangelista and Radovan capped the day with gold and silver-medal finishes in the 400-meter individual medley event.

In the girls’ division, Clara de los Santos and Patricia Santor secured the gold and silver medals in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Junior Female Tigershark Ilya Gonzales clocked 2:25.32 to finish with bronze in the 200-meter freestyle event.

Santor (gold), Ishaelle Villa (silver) and Raina Leyran (bronze) powered UST’s podium sweep of the 50-meter butterfly event. Villa also bagged gold in the 100-meter backstroke event after registering 1:09.27.

Leyran banded with Kristine Uy, Sinagtala Cuevas and Gerice Oyaman to clinch gold in the 200-meter relay with a record of 1:55.82. 

Santor and Hanna Sales secured the gold and bronze medals in the 400-meter individual medley event. 

In seniors’ play, the UST Tigersharks ended the third day of competition with two golds and one silver in the men’s division, while their female counterparts bagged two silver medals and a bronze, improving to 4-2-0 and 1-5-3 medal hauls, respectively.

Tigershark Jules Mirandilla topped the 50-meter butterfly event after registering 25.43 seconds, while John Paderes bagged gold in the 100-meter backstroke event with a 59.55-second performance.

Mirandilla, alongside Juan Abad, Sean Zamora and James Manese, secured the silver medal in the 200-meter relay, logging 1:38.55, which was 0.22 milliseconds behind UP Fighting Maroons’ 1:38.33.

In women’s play, Sharinne Floriano clocked 1:16.14 and placed second in the 100-meter backstroke, while Alyza Ng settled for bronze in the 50-meter butterfly with a record of 29.42 seconds.

Ng continued to rack up medals, teaming up with her fellow Female Tigersharks Honey Escarez, Jan Sarmiento and Kyla Managuelod to cop silver in the 200-meter relay. 

The UST Tigersharks will conclude their Season 86 campaign at the same venue tomorrow, Nov. 26, at 8:30 a.m.
