UST junior swimmers end up 2nd in UAAP

THE UST Junior Male Tigersharks lost their title while their female counterparts settled for second place anew in the UAAP Season 81 swimming tournament at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Sunday. 

The Junior Male Tigersharks garnered a total of 338 points with a 4-10-8 gold-silver-bronze medal tally while the Junior Female Tigersharks had a 9-4-3 medal haul for 319 points.

De La Salle University took the overall championship in the boys’ and girls’ divisions with 409.5 and 398 points, respectively.

Junior Female Tigersharks Aleksies de Leon, Anna Articona, Aura Aquino and Alexandra Bonite reigned in the 400-meter medley relay with a 4:45:20 finish.

UST’s Camille Buico nabbed gold in the 50-meter freestyle event after registering 27.98.

In the seniors’ divisions, the Male Tigersharks finished third while the Female Tigersharks failed to barge in the podium.

UST ended its campaign in the men’s division with one silver and three bronze medals for 180 points while their female counterparts had three bronze medals and settled for fourth place with 127 points.

Powerhouse Ateneo de Manila University reigned anew in both divisions with 530 and 475 points in the women’s and men’s divisions, respectively.

UST has the most number of UAAP swimming championships with 32 and 30 titles in the women’s and men’s divisions, respectively.
