THE UST Tigersharks racked up 18 medals on the opening day of the UAAP Season 86 swimming tournaments at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming Pool on Thursday. 

UST tallied two silver and two bronze medals in the women’s division, while the Male Tigersharks secured one gold. 

Female Tigersharks Kristine Garilao, Honey Escarez, Zoe Hilario and Kristina Baccay clocked 9:19.58 to finish with silver in the 800-meter freestyle relay event behind Ateneo’s 9:17.06.

UST’s quartet of Jan Sarmiento, Alyza Ng, Ixidorre Cajucom, and Honey Escarez clinched the silver medal in the 200-meter medley.

Ng and Shairinne Foloriano each bagged bronze in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley events, respectively. 

In men’s play, John Paderes, Lance Lotino, Jules Mirandilla and Johan Aguilen registered 1:47.99 in the 200-meter medley for UST’s lone gold. 

The Junior Tigersharks, Season 85 boys’ and girls’ champions, opened the season bagging 13 medals.

UST recorded a 4-1-3 medal tally in the boys’ division, while the Junior Female Tigersharks reaped a 2-2-1 haul in the girls’ division. 

Marcus De Kam bagged the gold and silver medals in the boys’ 200-meter individual medley and 100-meter freestyle events, respectively. 

Junior Male Tigersharks Jullian De Kam, Aishel Evangelista, Angelo Sadol, and Jose Austria notched gold in the 800-meter freestyle relay, while UST’s quintet of Zach Belen, Shawn Castro, Jullian De Kam, and Jabrielle Delizo topped the 200-meter medley relay. 

Evangelista and Ivan Radovan secured the gold and bronze medals in the boys’ 800-meter freestyle.

Renz Santos and Yohan Cabana each finished with bronze in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter individual medley. 

In the girls’ division, Junior Female Tigersharks Ishaelle Villa, Clara de los Santos, Sinagtala Cuevas, and Gerice Oyan set a new league record of 2:04.29 to notch the gold medal in the 200-meter medley relay. 

Laureen Daiz, Hanna Sales, Daryn Santa Maria, and Sealtel Daiz also dominated the 800-meter freestyle relay. 

Santa Maria and Sealtel Daiz clinched the silver and bronze medals in the girls’ 800-meter freestyle, while UST’s Patricia Santor took home the silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley.

The UST Tigersharks will continue their Season 86 campaign at the same venue tomorrow, Nov. 24, at 8:30 a.m. Emmanuel John B. Abris
