UST Jins settle for third place in UAAP Poomsae

Sept. 21, 2014, 4:10 p.m. - THE UST Jins failed to defend their championship and settled for third place as the University of the Philippines reigned supreme in the UAAP Season 77 Poomsae tournament at the San Juan Arena last Thursday, Sept. 18.

The Tiger Jins, who swept all categories last year to win the maiden poomsae championship, only bagged one gold on top of two silver and two bronze medals, allowing UP to snatch the top spot. De La Salle University took second place.

UST Jins turn back foes in UAAP openers

THE UST Tiger Jins are off to a strong start as they trounced Far Eastern University, 6-1, and edged the University of the East, 4-3, to open their UAAP season at the San Juan Arena, Tuesday.

Defending champion UST Lady Jins split their first two games even as reigning Most Valuable Player Abigail Cham dominated the bantamweight division.

The rookie-laden UST squad, which holds the record for most championships in the women's division with 13, suffered an early upset at the hands of Ateneo de Manila University, 3-4, but bounced back against National University, 5-2.
