THE NATIONAL University Bulldogs blew past the UST Male Tennisters, 4-1, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s lawn tennis tournament at the Colegio San Agustin-Bulacan Saturday.
The pair of Rucel Cero and Abson Alejandre sealed the win for NU after drubbing UST’s Beralou Bering and Warren Lagahit, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.
“Nagkaroon ng maraming chances pero lahat ‘yon hindi nakuha but I think mai-improve pa ‘yan lahat bukas,” Male Tennisters head coach Alexander Diego told the Varsitarian.
Dave Mosqueda gave UST their lone match win after outlasting NU’s Jeric Accion, 6-4, 6-4.
Bulldog Wilson Oblea capped the day with a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Male Tennister Jaffary Cariga.
UST’s Francis Lanzado and the Clarence Cabahug-Christian Lopez duo succumbed to their respective opponents.
The Male Tennisters fell to a 2-2 win-loss record, while the Bulldogs rose to a 3-1 slate.
UST will next face the defending champions, University of the East Red Warriors on March 3, Sunday, 8 a.m., at the same venue.
