THE UST Male Tennisters made quick work of the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 5-0, to cap off the first round of the UAAP Season 86 men’s tennis tournament undefeated at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Court on Saturday, Mar. 2.

The win propelled UST to a 6-0 win-loss tally, while Adamson remained winless with a 0-6 record.

John Christopher Sonsona took down Adamson’s Herald Steve Aton in the first singles match, 6-2, 6-1. 

UST’s duo of Brent Cortes and Nash Agustines then toppled Soaring Falcons Reymoses Amba and Tristan Correos, 7-6, 7-5, in the doubles category. 

In the third match, Nilo Ledama virtually sealed the deal for UST after a 6-2, 6-2 thrashing of  Adamson’s Ramon Bentillo.

UST continued to display dominance in the remaining matches with Male Tennisters Richard Bautista and Geo Serino demolishing Adamson’s tandem of Nikko Lumahang and Lawrence Sombreo (6-2, 6-0), before Ericjay Tangub completed the sweep with an identical 6-2, 6-0 victory over Adamson’s Miecoz Candelasa.

“Maganda ‘yong performance nila for this first round, tuloy-tuloy naman ‘yong winning moments so maintain lang namin lahat ng ginagawa namin,” UST head coach Alexander Diego told the Varsitarian. “Naka-ready na kami sa lahat ng adjustments na gagawin namin sa second round.”
