THE UST Female Tennisters dominated the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 4-1, to open the second round of the UAAP Season 86 women’s tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Court on Sunday, March 3.
Kaye Emana blanked Ateneo’s Nina Sandejas in the first singles match, 6-0, 6-0.
Blue Eagles Faye Dizon and Athea Martinez retaliated to tie the game after a 6-4, 7-6 escape of UST’s duo of Minetter Bentillo and Nicole de la Rita.
Alex Santos avenged UST in the third match and remained undefeated with a 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Ateneo’s Elle Urgello.
Female Tennisters Princess Gom-os and Miles Vitaliano also made quick work of Blue Eagles Althea Ong and Chelsea Roque, 6-0, 6-0, to seal the deal for UST.
UST rookie Justine Maneja capped the day after outplaying Ateneo’s Yam Garsim, 6-2, 7-5.
The UST Female Tennisters will next face the DLSU Green Tennisters at the same venue on March 10, Sunday, at 8 a.m.
