THE UST Junior Golden Tigresses walloped the Far Eastern University Lady Baby Tamaraws, 21-25, 25-13, 25-15, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 80 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Saturday.

The Junior Golden Tigresses ignited a 14-6 run to take the lead early in fourth set and never looked back. Regina Jurado fired an off-the-block hit and a service ace to seal UST’s third-straight win.

Trailing 13-11 in the third frame, UST retaliated with a 15-2 onslaught capped with an ace by Khaira Garces to give the Junior Tigresses a 2-1 set lead.

“Ang instruction lang naman kung hindi tayo magiging consistent sa service natin, sa block natin at sa receive natin, magkakaroon tayo ng maraming problema. Buti ‘dun sa dulo, nakapag-adjust din tayo,” UST head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said

Ahead in the second set, 14-8, UST sizzled for an 11-5 blitz capped with three-consecutive points from Jane Eslapor to even the game.

Equipped with a 23-21 lead in the opening salvo, FEU’s Jesca Tanguin’s ace and a block finished off a two-point swing to take first blood.

The Tigresses stayed unscathed with a 3-0 card alongside defending champion National University.

Eya Laure dropped 15 points while Eslapor chalked up nine for UST.

The Tigresses will next face the Adamson University on Oct. 2, Monday, 12 noon, at the same venue.
