DESPITE 32 errors, the UST Junior Golden Tigresses came away with a win over the University of the East Junior Lady Warriors, 25-15, 26-24, 11-25, 25-21, at the Paco Arena Wednesday.
A 7-3 run triggered by Lady Tigress Margaret Altea’s down-the-line kill broke an 18-all tie, allowing UST to secure the victory.
“Kailangang mag-regroup kasi kaliwa’t kanan ‘yong errors natin. Pinipilit naming i-compose ‘yong mga bata pero lumalabas talaga ‘yong pagkabata (nila). Ang impotante ay ‘yong pagbalik,” Tigresses head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Hr. told the Varsitarian.
The Tigresses had a slim lead in the opening salvo, 16-13, before unleashing a 9-3 run, topped by four consecutive aces from Regina Jurado.
Jurado tallied 17 points from nine attacks and eight service aces for the Tigresses.
Verenicce Collendra posted 12 points and Seanelle Garcia added 11 markers for the Lady Warriors.
The Junior Tigresses will next face the University of the Philippines Maroons on Sept. 15, Sunday, 10 a.m., at the Blue Eagle Gym.
