Tamaraws survive UST in UAAP men’s volleyball

THE UST Tiger Spikers fell short against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws after a tight five-set match 25-21, 24-26, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12 in the UAAP Season 82 men’s volleyball tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena Sunday.

Jude Garcia sealed the victory for FEU with dagger off a combination play.

Tiger Spiker Josh Umandal earlier tried to spark a comeback with a hit and a successful block with UST down by four points in the deciding set, 10-14.

The Tiger Spikers had a set advantage, 2-1, before FEU equalized the game in the fourth canto with John Paul Bugaoan’s hit.

Garcia led the Tamaraws with 27 markers while Jose Javelona and John Paul Bugaoan added 13 points apiece.

Umandal spearheaded the Tigers with 21 points.

The Tiger Spikers will next face the De La Salle University Green Archers on March 15, Sunday, 9 a.m. at the PhilSports Arena. Rommel Bong R. Fuertes Jr.
