March 25, 2015, 9:22 a.m. - THE CENTRAL Commission on Elections (Comelec) has rejected the petition of Lakas ng Diwang Tomasino (Lakasdiwa) to disqualify all independent candidates in this year’s Central Student Council (CSC) elections.

“We find no merit in the petition of Lakasdiwa to disqualify the contested independent candidates,” Comelec stated in a resolution released Tuesday. “Lakasdiwa failed to provide clear and convincing evidence that would support [its] contention relative to the intent of the respondents running as independent candidates.”

March 24, 2015, 2:45 p.m. - THE CENTRAL Commission on Elections (Comelec) has withheld the candidacies of six independent bets for Central Student Council (CSC) posts following disqualification cases filed against them by Lakas ng Diwang Tomasino (Lakasdiwa), the only recognized university-wide political party this academic year.

March 20, 2015, 5:13 p.m. - TWELVE students, including three incumbent Central Student Council (CSC) officers, on Thursday filed their certificates of candidacy ahead of upcoming University-wide student council polls.

Eyeing the presidency are incumbent CSC secretary and fourth-year Clinical Pharmacy student Rosevielentine Rosales, who will run under the party Lakasdiwa, and third-year Management Accounting student Anna Mariz Mangalili, who will run independently.

March 4, 2015, 12:20 p.m. - THE UST Central Commision on Elections (Comelec) has declared the third Friday of April as the official date of student elections starting this academic year, in a resolution released Tuesday.

Due to changes in the University’s academic calendar, “the commission sees the necessity of adjusting the dates with regard to election-based matters under the [UST Students' Election Code] (USEC) of 2011,” said Comelec Resolution No. 7.

This year’s local and university-wide elections will be on April 17.
