Five Thomasians named outstanding professionals

June 22, 2015, 7:59 a.m. - FIVE Thomasians were recognized as “Outstanding Professionals of the Year” by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) during its 42nd anniversary last June 18.

Thomasians Leila Florento, Teresita Barcelo, and Donald Lipardo were awarded as the most outstanding professional medical technologist, nurse, and physical therapist, respectively.

UST places 3rd in LET secondary level

May 23, 2015, 4:00 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY was named third top-performing school in the March 2015 off-season licensure examination for teachers (LET) in the secondary level, while one Thomasian entered the top 10.

UST recorded an 89.06-percent passing rate, meaning 57 passed out of 64 examinees. This was slightly lower than last year's 89.29 percent, equivalent to 50 passers out of 56 examinees. UST was named the second top-performing school last year.

UST trailed behind University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman and Saint Louis University, which had 95.24- and 90.32-percent passing rates rates, respectively.

Rector to UST Batch 2015: ‘Give life to others’

This was the message of UST Rector Fr. Herminio Dagohoy, O.P. to the 8,048 graduating Thomasians during the 2015 Baccalaureate Mass held at the open field Friday night.

“Learn how to love… You come to the University not just to accumulate information without knowing what to do with it, but through the love, let that information bear fruit,” said Dagohoy, who quoted Pope Francis’ speech during his encounter with the Filipino youth last Jan. 18 in the University.

Academe urged to take part in building ASEAN community

April 11, 2014, 6:29 p.m. - THE TOP Filipino official in the Jakarta headquarters of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Saturday urged the academe to contribute to the development of the "ASEAN Community" by helping raise awareness among students and faculty.

This will help ensure peace and prosperity within the region, said Alicia Bala, deputy secretary general of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, during the 23rd St. Antoninus of Florence Professorial Lecture at the Benavides Auditorium.

UST proposes 5-8 percent tuition hike

Feb. 19, 2015, 1:11 p.m. - THE UNIVERSITY administration is proposing a five to eight-percent increase in tuition per unit for academic year 2015-2016.

Under the proposed schedule of fees, the increases amount to P67 per unit for first-year students, P100 per unit for second-year students, P101 per unit for third-year students, and P64 per unit for fourth- and fifth-year students.
