FORD Supermodel of the World finalist Kristina “Tina” Marasigan may be having the best of both worlds.
Apart from gracing the catwalk in exquisite gowns, Tina also dons corporate attires as she works as a staff of the office of the executive vice president of San Miguel Corporation. However, the Psychology graduate confesses that she is caught in between two careers that both matter to her.
“I am struggling to balance my priority in work and my interest in modeling,” Tina tells the Varsitarian.
Tina is a top 10 finalist of Ford Supermodel of the World, an international and prestigious modeling competition that bore some of the big names in the modeling industry like Chanel Iman and Jacqueline Jablonski. Sharon Ronquillo, a second runner-up in 2005, and Charlene Almarvez, a first-runner up winner last January, are only among the Filipinas who made it internationally.
But despite this reverence for her idols, it seems that Tina has made a decision to focus on her work in San Miguel.
“My goal is to have a stable job and position. Because, frankly speaking, a career in modeling is not lasting,” Tina says.
Nevertheless, Tina, looking simple but still beautiful in her blue tank top and harem pants, says that her experience with Ford Supermodel has been quite a ride.
Tina has been joining several beauty contests in the University when her friend, Nicole Mori, encouraged Tina to join Ford Supermodel after graduation.
“It is important to be punctual and to be professional. You should also learn how to mingle with different kinds of people especially if you’re working internationally,” Tina says.
Turnabout
Tina may have had a change of heart when it comes to her career, but she has no regrets with her decision. After all, Tina says she realized how to go about her career life as she an basically apply anything what she has learned in psychology.
“I actually chose BS Psychology because it can both be a pre-law and pre-med course,” Says Tina, who initially wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer.
The supermodel in Tina began to bloom while she was stil in college. She has joined various school pageants and even represented the College of Science in the ‘The Search for the Ideal Thomasian Personality’ in 2009. Tina won first-runner up.
However, Tina has turned down offers to model since she has decided to focus on work for now. But nothing seems to stop this determined and career-driven lass from pursuing her passion as she is still open to prospects of modeling and hopefully, juggle it with her corporate commitments.
“I want to pursue what I started because as a model, I get to mingle with different kinds of people, go to places, and experience opportunities that may not be possible if I was not a model,” she says.
