Malolos Bishop Emeritus Cirilo Almario Jr. passes away at 85

EMERITUS Bishop Cirilo Almario Jr. of the Diocese of Malolos, a UST alumnus, passed away last Oct. 14. He was 85.

Almario took up philosophy and sacred theology at the UST Central Seminary.

The former CBCP secretary general was ordained priest on Nov. 15, 1956 and bishop on Oct. 18, 1973. He then served as coadjutor bishop of the Diocese of Malolos.

In 1977, Almario was appointed bishop of Malolos and served until his resignation in 1996.

Almario founded the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

His remains lie at the chapel of the Immaculate Conception Major Seminary and will be transferred to the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Malolos on Oct. 17.

He will be interred at the cathedral crypt on Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. after the funeral Mass to be led by Malolos Bishop Jose Oliveros. With reports from Neil Jayson N. Servallos
