Christmas should be a time to prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ, the dean of the Faculty of Sacred Theology told Catholics on Christmas Day Mass.

In his homily at the Santisimo Rosario Parish Church on Sunday, Fr. Rodel Aligan, O.P. emphasized that Christmas is not just about the festivities but the daily preparation for the second coming through the Eucharist.

“Dito sa Eukaristiya na ‘to, idinedeklara natin at sinasabi natin, ‘Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.’ Iyon ang preparasyon, nang sa ganon, pagkatapos ng season na ‘to, hindi tayo malulungkot and wish for another Christmas,” he said.

Aligan urged Catholics to repent and be preachers of the Gospel.

“Hawanin natin kung anuman ang mga bundok na ‘yan; bundok ng mga sarili natin. Liinisin ang ating kalooban, pagsisihan ang mga kasalanan nang sa gayon ay maging kaaya-aya tayo sa pagdating ng Manunubos,” he said. Ammiel B. Maestrado
