MARY, the Mother of God is the epitome of femininity that must be exemplified by the women of today, UST Vice Rector Fr. Isaias Tiongco, O.P. said on Saturday, Dec. 31.

“Each of us has much to learn from Mary, for she was all woman in every sense of the word: a dedicated woman, a caring mother, and a loving wife,” he said in his homily at the Mass for the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God at the Santisimo Rosario Parish Church.

Tiongco said the value of women should not be based solely on physical beauty.

“[A] real woman’s value is not almost always in her appearance but in her holiness – ang kaniyang kabanalan – in her inner beauty, in her relationship with God,” the vice rector said.

Tiongco added that being a mother is part of the divine order of God’s creation, not just something genetic.

“We all need women – and of course, men – who know how to pray and live holy lives,” he said.
