THE UNIVERSITY is set to launch on Jan. 27 the triennium of St. Thomas Aquinas, commemorating the anniversaries of his canonization, death and birth from 2023 to 2025.

Three important jubilees will be held for St. Thomas, UST’s patron saint: the 700th anniversary of his canonization in 2023, 750th death anniversary in 2024, and 800th birth anniversary in 2025.

Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani of Novaliches will preside over the University’s Fiesta Mass that day with the theme, “Contemplating the beauty of God.”

The Office of the Vice Rector for Religious Affairs recently conducted a logo design contest for St. Thomas’s triennium that lasted until Jan. 18.

Preceding the launch are Triduum Masses in St. Thomas’s honor from Jan. 24 to 26.

Fr. Ramonclaro Mendez, O.P., former rector of UST Legazpi, will preside on the first day and discuss the theme “Contemplating the beauty of God in the family.”

Biology professor Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, O.P. will tackle the theme, “Contemplating the beauty of God in study,” on the second day, while UST parish priest Fr. Paul Talavera, O.P. will conclude on the third day by elaborating on the theme “Contemplating the beauty of God in the Eucharist.”

There will be no classes and office work in the University on Jan. 28, the feast day of St. Thomas.

St. Thomas is the patron saint of Catholic schools and universities and one of the 33 doctors of the Church. He is also regarded as the Church’s greatest theologian. Allyssa Mae C. Cruz
