THE UST Male and Female Woodpushers dropped their respective matches in the UAAP Season 79 chess tournament at the De La Salle University Henry Sy Hall Sunday.
The Male Woodpushers surrendered to the National University, which took home a 3.5-.5 win, while the Female Woodpushers were wiped out by La Salle, 0-4.
Only Heirry Manaloto was able to salvage a draw for UST. His teammates Jhon Abild, Christian Flores and Hormel Cunanan dropped their respective matches.
Michella and Michaela Concio, Heizzy Manaloto and Cyamir Villanueva failed to notch a win for the Female Woodpushers.
The Male Woodpushers, who now have 17.5 points, sit at fourth place behind NU (24.5), Far Eastern University (21.5) and University of the East (18).
The Female Woodpushers remain at fifth place with their 14 points and are behind league-leaders FEU and DLSU (24), UE (17), and Adamson University (16).
Chess action resumes on March 18, Saturday, at the same venue.
