August 6, 2015, 12:20 a.m. – A THOMASIAN who is now a multi-awarded Hollywood animator will have a homecoming at the University on Monday, August 10.
Ronaldo del Carmen, alumnus of the College of Fine Arts and
Design (CFAD), is the co-director of the latest Disney-Pixar film, Inside Out. He will
be coming to the University to deliver a lecture on animation before students
and local animators.
According to Jay Gonzales, Philippine publicist of Disney-Pixar, Del Carmen will also be given a special award from CFAD as an outstanding alumnus at the Beato Angelico Building audio-visual room, to be followed by a meeting with Vice Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P.
Inside Out tells the story of a little girl named Riley
trying to cope with changes brought about by moving to a new city, from the
perspective of the emotions joy, sadness, disgust, anger and fear personified
inside her subconscious.
The UST alumnus is also noted for his work in short films
such as One Man Band and Dug’s Special Mission, and award-winning films Finding Nemo, Up and
Wall-E.
Del Carmen will be joined by his co-director, Pete Docter,
in a press conference at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel tomorrow, August 7. They
will be attending the red carpet premiere of the movie on the same day at SM
